Flags on City of Lexington Property to Be Displayed at Half-Mast Through July 13, 2026

to Honor Mayor Frank Friedman

      (Lexington, Virginia, July 7, 2026) – All flags on display on City of Lexington property will be flown at half-mast until 9 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026.

      This order is to honor the memory and legacy of the honorable Frank Friedman, Mayor of Lexington, who suddenly passed away on July 2^nd. Mayor Friedman served as Lexington’s mayor since 2016, and had previously served on the Lexington City Council and the Lexington City School Board.                     

      This order by the Lexington city manager concerning the flying of flags displayed on City of Lexington property does not govern flags displayed on private, state, or federal property.

      City Manager Tom Carroll stated, “Our wonderful, tight-knit community is mourning the passing of a true public servant, Mayor Frank Friedman. Please join me in remembering his love for Lexington, its residents, and all who visited our community.”
